Monotype is a single impression of a painterly printmaking technique. Sometimes it is well planned and layered which creates more depth to the image. Other times I am spontaneously allowing my mind and my hand to reveal the power of color and ink onto the plate. It creates a moment of freeness, a feeling of movement and joy, often with some element of surprise.

"Purple Rhapsody" is a monotype that represents my fascination with music, and the enthusiasm of finding a rhythm. The process of creating my monotypes from the series "Sounds" is accompanied by different types of music, including classical, jazz, blues, rock, and much more. Sometimes it is only the sound of the silence.
